What Should I Know About Mental Health?

Experiencing mental health concerns or suicidal thoughts is not a sign that you are weak, lazy, or a bad person. Many different things can contribute to these concerns, such as life experiences, family history, or brain chemistry. With support, things can get better.

Everyone experiences tough feelings in their life, but if you’re struggling to cope, it may be time to ask for help. Sometimes it can be hard to tell when your emotions grow to be too big to deal with on your own, especially if they’ve been building up for a while.

  • If you are:

    • Having trouble sleeping or sleeping too much

    • Not having the energy or not wanting to get out of bed in the morning

    • Feeling angry

    • Feeling hopeless that things can’t change or won’t get better

    • Not wanting to do things you used to enjoy

    • Feeling helpless or worthless

    • Having a hard time paying attention or concentrating on tasks

    • Experiencing mood swings or difficulty controlling your actions

    • Self-harming

    • Thinking or talking about death, dying, or suicide
